Two invited speakers followed by moderated discussion. Sessions should encourage interaction and provide opportunities to explore practical implications of the research presented.

Plenary Sessions

60–75 minutes

High impact topics that appeal broadly across the CNS membership. Plenary sessions should connect multiple disciplines and demonstrate the broader implications of nutrition science for research, clinical care, public health, health systems and policy.

Session Description

Session descriptions should clearly articulate:

• Why this topic matters
• What attendees will learn
• How the evidence can be applied
• What attendees can take back to their own work

Learning Objectives

A minimum of three learning objectives must be provided.

Interdisciplinary Relevance

You must describe how your session connects multiple disciplines across the nutrition science continuum, including which perspective is being represented:

• Basic Science
• Translational Research
• Clinical Research
• Public Health
• Implementation Science
• Health Systems
• Policy
• Regulatory Science
• Community Engagement
• Patient/Family Partner

You must explain how attendees from different professional backgrounds will benefit from this session.

Innovation

You must provide detail about what is new, innovative or cutting edge about this session.

Consider:

• Emerging science
• New collaborations
• Cross-disciplinary perspectives
• Novel methodologies
• New approaches to translating research into practice

Proposed Speakers

Each session must have two speakers. You will be asked to provide the suggested speaker names. You are encouraged to contact potential speakers before submission to confirm their availability and willingness to participate if the session is selected.

Note that all Speakers and Chairs are required to complete a Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest (COI)/Disclosure Statement and include a slide with this information at the start of the session/talk. This is an important step in our goal to be transparent in all CNS activities, and to remain a credible and respected organization. Further, each speaker will be asked to thoroughly present their disclosure statement at the start of each presentation.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

To support transparency and scientific integrity, Speakers are asked to disclose any substantive use of generative AI in developing their presentation or session content.

Presenters remain responsible for the accuracy, scientific validity and appropriate attribution of all content, including AI-assisted material.

Where applicable, please include an AI Disclosure on your opening disclosure slide.

Session Chairs

You are asked to recommend a session Chair. Chairs play an important role in ensuring sessions reflect the goals of the CNS Annual Conference and are expected to:

• Ensure presentations align with the approved session objectives
• Encourage discussion across disciplines and sectors
• Encourage speakers to highlight the practical implications, future applications, or broader significance of their work, as appropriate.
• Facilitate engaging discussion that highlights connections between research, practice, implementation and policy
• Support session logistics, disclosures and audience engagement, including the timely submission of session materials, bios, photos
